    Installing Consumables Installing Consumables You must install the toner cartridge, load and install the cassette, con- nect the power cord, and print the start-up page before you can install any options. Installing the Toner Cartridge In your laser printer, characters and images are created through a process that applies toner (made of carbon particles) to the page in the printer’s fusing unit.
