transmitter menu is still 100%, and if you now enter, say, 90%, in order to reduce the travel by a further 10%,
the SMART-BOX will not be aware of this change. The net result is that you now have two different displays
for the same value, but neither is actually correct as the servo travel is affected by both settings, which need
to be combined in order to determine the actual servo travel. Further examples would be the servo reverse
function or the transmitter control assignment to individual receiver channels. It is easy to see that this could
be confusing in day-to-day operations, and should therefore be avoided.
For this reason you should always - wherever possible - continue using the SMART-BOX to maintain pro-
grammed values. If you neglect to do this, you MUST reset all the SMART-BOX settings by re-initialising
your transmitter and your receiver(s).
Transmitter: To initialise the system, i.e. to reset it to the factory default settings, locate the BIND / RANGE
button on the back of the transmitter, hold it pressed in while you switch the transmitter on, then release the
BIND / RANGE button again.
Receiver: To initialise the system, i.e. to reset it to the factory default settings, locate the BIND / RANGE
button on the back of the transmitter, hold it pressed in while you switch the transmitter on, then release the
BIND / RANGE button again. Now immediately press and hold the SET button on the receiver, switch it on,
and release the SET button again. After about two or three seconds the green LED on the receiver lights up
to confi rm that your radio control system has been re-initialised.
Please note:
The initialisation procedure erases ALL the settings you have entered. Where necessary, you will need to
program your preferred settings on the transmitter or SMART-BOX again (see also 3.1. and 3.2.3).
Please refer to the appropriate section in your RC system instructions for the procedure.

2. STARTING UP

Install the SMART-BOX at the mounting bracket of the transmitter as shown in the
fi gure. Connect the box then the 3-pin lead to the transmitter. Put one end of the
cable into the DATA jack on the transmitter and the other into the jack on the right
side of the SMART-BOX. The connector system is polarised, look for the small
camfer on the edges. Never use force - the plug should engage easily and fully. The
sockets are labeled accordingly: black wire (-), red wire (+) and orange wire (S).

3. OPERATION

The SMART-BOX is operated by the four buttons on the top. Switch with the ESC and ENTER keys between
the different displays. With the DEC and INC buttons you can select the parameters in the display (INC
moves the cursor down, DEC up).
Switch on the transmitter. On the startup screen appears SETTING AND DATA VIEW / MODEL SELECT /
EXTERNAL MONITOR. Move the arrow cursor with the INC or DEC buttons on SETTING AND DATA VIEW
and then press ENTER to display the parameters of the transmitter, receiver and telemetry sensors and /
or program it (not available for the new HoTT Transmitters - see EXTERNAL MONITOR), or select MODEL
SELECT / EXTERNAL DATA VIEW to display the telemetry data graphically (see point 4).
In MODEL SELECT / EXTERNAL MONITOR display no settings are possible.
