ceivers has to be installed in an unfavourable position in the model, or if there is a danger that the received
signal will be weak in certain fl ight attitudes, perhaps due to a turbine, carbon fi bre in the airframe, or a
similar problem, with the result that sporadic range problems might be expected.
For this reason it is essential to connect the most important control functions to the primary receiver (the
one programmed as SUMI), so that interference to the satellite receiver (SUMO) does not cause the model
to go out of control. Telemetry data, such as the voltage of the airborne power supply, are only sent to the
transmitter by the satellite receiver (confi gured as SUMO), i.e. all telemetry sensors must be connected to
the satellite receiver (SUMO).
Each receiver should be connected to the shared power supply using its own power lead. If high currents
can be expected, duplicated power connections are recommended. However, if each of the two receivers is
to be powered by its own battery, then it is essential to withdraw the central (red) wire from one of the two
satellite lead connectors.
If you wish to carry out further programming, such as the Fail-Safe settings, disconnect the three-core sa-
tellite connection between the two receivers, and switch on just the receiver you wish to address. Note that
you may also need to change the binding sequence.

4. TELEMETRY DISPLAY

If you select MODEL SELECT / EXTERNAL MONITOR the telemetry data can only be displayed, i.e. it
cannot be programmed - in contrast to SETTING AND DATAVIEW. However, the data is represented in
graphic form, and this makes it the preferable option when actually operating a model, as it is easier and
quicker to read and assess.
MODEL SELECT: Graphical Display only for the transmitters mx-12 HoTT Order-No. 4754, mx-16 HoTT Or-
der No. 4755, mx-22 Order No. 4801/4802, mc-19 Order No. 4821 and mc-22 Order No. 4818 after conver-
sion to HoTT, as well as the modules M-G1 Order No. 33300, M-G2 Order No. 33302 and Order No. 33301
EXTERNAL MONITOR: Graphical Display only for the transmitters mx-12 HoTT Order No. 33112, mx-16
HoTT Order No. 33116, mx-20 Order No. 33124 and mc-32 Order No. 33032 - operation by the transmitter
Switch the transmitter on: the start screen of the SMART-BOX displays SETTING AND DATAVIEW / MODEL
SELECT / EXTERNAL MONITOR. Use the INC or DEC button to move the arrow cursor to MODEL SELECT,
then press ENTER to switch to the graphic representation of the telemetry display.
Please note: these menus can only be selected if the receiver is already switched on. After you switch the
receiver on, note that it may take several seconds before the display becomes active, and can be selected.
There may be a slight delay in the screen's response to inputs using the top buttons, since all the settings
are transmitted directly to the receiver by wireless means.
Once you have selected SIMPLE DATAVIEW, the Smart-Box displays the telemetry menu. You must then
select the appropriate sensor using the arrow cursor, depending on whether you are operating a model
aircraft (AIRPLANE) or a model car (CAR).
It is possible to select any of the displays, but - as you would expect - the unit can only display those para-
meters for which sensors are actually installed in the model.
Use the INC or DEC button to move the arrow cursor to AIRPLANE (model aircraft) or CAR (model car), then
press ENTER to move to the corresponding telemetry display.
In the aircraft display (AIRPLANE) you can use the INC or DEC button to select one of the following graphic
displays:
RECEIVE: shows the same data as RX DATAVIEW
RECEIVE+GENERAL/GAS: + two additional sensors. As RX DATAVIEW, As RX DATAVIEW, but plus rota-
tional speed (RPM), altitude (ALT), current
RECEIVER+ELECTRONIC: + two additional sensors. As RX DATAVIEW, fourteen individual cell voltages
RECEIVE+VARIO: receive performance, actual altitude, min. and max. altitude, temperature, climb rate /
sink rate /sec., climb rate / sink rate / 3 sec., climb rate / sink rate / 10 sec.
RECEIVE+GPS: receive performance, altitude, speed, distance, temperature#
