Electrical Installation

Before installing the ECO-EX product, refer to the related conditions of
use for the appropriate certification as indicated in the previous pages of
this document. Failure to adhere to these conditions of use will invalidate
the certification of the product and could potentially render it unsafe for
use in hazardous areas.
The terminal connections and cable specifications for the VESDA ECO-EX are as
shown in the standard VESDA ECO Product Guide supplied.
The following additional points need to be noted when installing the electrical
connections to the VESDA ECO-EX.
Hazardous Area installation standards require that, when using stranded
core cable, ferrules are used to terminate each core before connection to
the equipment terminals.
The maximum outside diameter of cable specified for use with the cable
glands on the ECO-EX is 8mm, the minimum outside diameter is 4.5mm.
It is recommended to install the connection to the Modbus interface to
permit configuration, diagnostics and monitoring to be undertaken from a
SAFE area as the USB port on the ECO-EX is not accessible when the
Guard is fitted. The Guard must be fitted at all times when the ECO-EX is
energized in the hazardous area unless otherwise authorized by the site
safety authority.
