    Ratek VM1 Vortex Mixer – User Manual ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intended Use This Vortex Mixer is intended for the purpose of agitating vessels containing liquid to create a vortex inside the vessel. The operator may load a suitable article into the silicon rubber cup for the purpose of controlled agitation of the article.

CAUTION Be careful when lifting and observe your local operational health and safety requirements for lifting before unpacking the carton.

    Ratek VM1 Vortex Mixer – User Manual ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using The Vortex Mixer Choosing a Suitable Vessel - The Vortex Mixer should be used with slightly tapered vessels or parallel sided tubes for best results. Centrifuge tubes with a tapered point are ideal and will locate neatly into the silicon mixing cup. Other flat bottom vessels can be used however the resulting mixing action will not be as vigorous.
  • Page 10 Ratek VM1 Vortex Mixer – User Manual ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adjusting The Mixing Control The Vortex Mixer features adjustable mixing speed control to deliver gentle agitation through to vigorous mixing whereby a vortex forms within the vessel. To change the mixing speed - Slowly turn the agitation speed control knob (element 3 in Figure 1) clockwise to increase the speed, or anti-clockwise to decrease the speed.

    Ratek are consulted prior to decontamination or cleaning being undertaken if there is any doubt about the compatibility of decontamination or cleaning agents with parts of the Vortex Mixer or with any materials contained in it.
