D-5 Using the Locking Clip
A locking clip is used to prevent the vehicle belt from loosening
before a sudden stop or crash. The locking clip can only be used
on a lap and shoulder belt combination. The locking clip is located
on the back of the child restraint.
A locking clip will not fix all
types of vehicle seat belt problems.
clip when using this seat as a booster seat. Review section
D-4 and your vehicle's owner manual for vehicle seat belt use
with child restraints to see if a locking clip is needed.
The following directions describe installing the child restraint rear-
facing. Same steps apply for forward-facing, except install the
child restraint forward-facing and thread the vehicle belt in the
forward-facing belt path.
Do not use both the UAS belt and vehicle belt at the
same time.
Fully recline the child restraint and rotate the child
restraint to the correct recline angle that matches
the weight of your child. Do not use any other recline
positions rear facing. Do not rotate the child restraint
beyond the bottom or top level to ground lines.
When forward-facing, do not use any recline position
except to make the child restraint flush against the
vehicle seat back. Vehicle seat back must be in the
upright position.
