4.3
OMT
The equipment can be monitored and controlled locally using a direct PC connection, or remotely
using an integrated wireless/wireline modem.
OMT running on a local PC with serial connection to the equipment
OMC with remote connection to the equipment via wireless/wireline modem.
OMT software is based on Windows operation system, and is designed for monitoring and maintaining
of Comba repeaters and boosters.
For RA-5200 repeater, the OMT software performs the following functions:
Configures and adjusts the repeater's operating parameters
Displays and detects the repeater operating status
Configures and commissions the repeater
Downloads firmware for upgrading purpose.
4.3.1 OMT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Refer to Reference 0.6.3 for installing OMT software. After installing OMT software on the PC,
connection to the equipment can be done locally or remotely.
4.3.2 OMT SOFTWARE VERSION
OMT software is designed to be backward compatible. To view the OMT software version, select
[Help] -> [About] in the OMT software main window. The current OMT version for RA-5200 is
OMTv3.20.
4.3.3 CONNECTION TO OMT
4.3.3.1 Physical
Sometimes known as the F-interface, this is implemented in hardware as RS-232 for ASCII
communication protocol between OMT and the equipment.
Physical/Local Connection
RS-232 cable is supplied with equipment. It connects the serial port of the PC to the RS-232 port on
either MOU or RRU. For MOU, it is through the RS-232 port on the Main Control Unit, while for RRU, it
is through the RS-232 port located on the distribution board inside the RRU enclosure. Local
commissioning of ROU can be monitored through the RRU unit connected with it.
Remote Connection
An integrated wireless/wireline modem implementing the link (data and SMS mode) provides the
option for equipment remote connection over PSTN. SMS mode is available only for wireless modem.
For managing the ROU, a remote connection is achieved by in-band communication over the optical
fiber. The FSK modem within the MOU and ROU modulates the data between the equipments. Using
a PC communicating with the MOU, RF parameter and alarm information of the ROU(s) can be
viewed and managed.
