4.2.1.
The RS125 has a charging jack that is inserted into the charge port, located on the upper rear panel (fig.2).
4.2.2.
Plug the charger into a 230V ac mains supply and turn on.
4.2.3.
charging progress can be monitored by pressing the Test Button (fig.3) and checking the Battery Meter (fig.3). do not stop charging
until the battery meter indicates that the unit is fully charged.
4.2.4.
When not in use, the unit can be left connected to the mains charger as the internal PcB has an automatic float charging circuit which will
not allow overcharging.

5. OPERATION

correct battery terminals. If the alarm buzzer sounds, it indicates that the connections are crossed, remove clamps and replace
them to the correct connections.
NOTE: For optimum performance, the unit should not be stored below 10°c when using the unit as a jump starter.
NOTE: The Road Start will only jump start a vehicle with a serviceable engine and an undamaged battery (a defective battery may not
accept a charge from the portable power source).

or discharged. Severe injury and damage can occur if not properly used. Carefully read and follow all instructions.
IMPORTANT - follow the steps in the order shown.
5.1.
Ensure voltage selector is in the 'oFF' position.
5.2.
Attach the positive (red +) clamp to the positive terminal of the battery.
5.3.
Attach the negative (black -) clamp to the vehicle chassis.
5.4.
If the alarm buzzer sounds, it indicates that the connections are crossed, remove clamps and replace them to the correct connections.
5.5.
Ensure that all cables are clear of moving belts and rotating fans.
5.6.
Select either 12V or 24V with the voltage selector switch.
5.7.
Maintain a safe distance from the battery whilst jump starting.
5.8.
Turn on the ignition to start the vehicle.
NOTE: IF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT START AFTER 6 SECONDS, ALLOW THE ROADSTART UNIT TO COOL FOR 3 MINUTES,
BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. IF THIS IS NOT DONE THE VEHICLE COULD SUSTAIN
DAMAGE.
The Reverse Charging Protection Diode, fitted in the positive lead, is a consumable part that is damaged by failure to adhere
to the duty cycle instructions. Damage sustained due to misuse is NOT covered by the Warranty.
5.9.
Once the vehicle has started, disconnect the negative (black -) clamp first within 15 seconds. Then turn the switch to the off position
and disconnect the positive (red +) clamp.
5.10.
Store both clamps in holsters.
IN THE EVENT OF INADVERTENT CONNECTION TO 24VOLT SYSTEM WITH THE SELECTION IN THE 12VOLT POSITION
DO NOT ToUcH THE VoLTAGE SELEcToR SWITcH.
DISCONNECT THE BATTERY, NEGATIVE TERMINAL FIRST, ANd LEAVE THE RoAdSTART UNIT To REST FoR AT LEAST ½
HoUR.
DANGER OF EXPLOSION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE AND INJURY, IF THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS ARE NOT
OBSERVED.
If the RoadStart is connected to the incorrect voltage, it is recommended that it is returned for inspection BEFORE being used again.
5.11.
Alternative Vehicle Power Supply
5.11.1.
When a vehicle battery is disconnected, the memory systems in radios, electronic ignition systems and alarms are frequently lost.
5.11.2.
When replacing a battery the RoadStart unit can be used as an alternative power supply by connecting the unit with a dc extension
lead (not provided) into the vehicle accessory socket.
5.11.3.
This will prevent loss of memory in the systems outlined in Paragraph 4.3.1.
WARNING! The positive battery cable will be live and MUST be insulated (e.g. in a heavy duty plastic bag).

5.12.
Multipurpose Power Supply
5.12.1.
The RoadStart units can be used as a multipurpose power supply to power up any equipment with a built-in 12Vdc male adaptor.
5.12.2.
Used with an inverter, the RoadStart unit can operate equipment usually powered by either 110VAc or 230VAc.
5.12.3.
The Sealey catalogue contains a range of suitable inverters.
NOTE: The inverter power draw must not exceed 300 Watts.
5.13.
The number of times that the RoadStart can be used between charges depends on a number of factors, for instance: the type and
size of engine being started, the state of charge and the ambient temperature will all affect the endurance of the unit.
