    CHAPTER 1 - INTRODUCTION 1.1. ABOUT MOBILE EXPANDER Mobile Expander s5 (Mobile Expander in further text) is add-on module to the various Yacht Router models. It will give you ability to connect Yacht Router to mobile networks (4G/3G/2G). With dual SIM card slot, you can use two SIM cards from same or different mobile provider. Mobile Expander cannot operate without Yacht Router.

CONNECTING POWER SUPPLY There are few ways to power Mobile Expander: • DC in 8-30 V connector directly from Yacht Router DC out (with supplied DC power cable with connectors 0.3 m) • DC in 8-30 V connector directly from vessel battery (with supplied DC power cable with connector 2 m) •...

    CHAPTER 2 - INSTALLATION 2.2. CONNECTING MOBILE EXPANDER TO YACHT ROUTER STANDARD There are two most common ways to connect Mobile Expander to the Yacht Router Standard. IMPORTANT It is important to connect Mobile Expander via Ethernet cable to any Backbone port on the Yacht Router. On the following photo Mobile Expander is powered using supplied 0.3 m cable directly from the Yacht Router.
  • Page 13 CHAPTER 2 - INSTALLATION On the following photo Mobile Expander is powered using Power-over-Ethernet injector (supplied with the Mobile Expander). This method is very useful when you want to install Mobile Expander on a remote location (e.g. close to the radar arch to minimize coax cable loss between Mobile Expander and outdoor antennas). You can connect maximum two Mobile Expanders to the Yacht Router Standard.

    CHAPTER 2 - INSTALLATION 2.3. INSTALLING ANTENNAS Mobile Expander is equipped with two mobile antennas and one GPS antenna. GPS antenna GPS antenna is equipped with 5 m cable. Antenna is waterproof so you can install it outdoor if necessary. Mobile antennas To achieve best performance both mobile antennas should be connected.

    CHAPTER 2 - INSTALLATION 2.4. INSERTING SIM CARDS Mobile Expander is equipped with two SIM card slots for standard SIM card size (15x25 mm). Both SIM cards are on top of each other. Lower slot is number 1 and upper number 2. Position SIM card lock into position as indicated on a Rotate SIM card lock into position as indicated on above Rotate SIM lock to insert SIM card into slot.
