Why do flakes and impurities
come out of the soleplate
during ironing.
Why does the red light
(GC4440/GC4430GC4420
only) blink?
Why does water drip from
the soleplate after the iron has
cooled down or has been
stored?
Why does the iron make a
sound when I put it aside
during ironing?
Why does the iron make a
humming sound when I am
ironing without steam?
Answer
An additive may have been poured into the
water tank. Rinse the water tank and do not
put any additive in the water tank.
Hard water forms flakes inside the soleplate.
Use the Calc-Clean function one or more
times (see chapter 'Cleaning and
maintenance').
The electronic safety shut-off function may
have switched the iron off (see chapter
'Features'). Move the iron slightly to deactivate
the electronic safety shut-off function.The red
AUTO/OFF light goes out
(GC4440/GC4430GC4420 only).
The iron may have been put in horizontal
position with water still left in the water tank.
Empty the water tank and set the steam
control to position 0 after use. Store the iron
on its heel.
You have put the iron aside on its soleplate.
Always place the iron on its heel when you
put it aside during ironing.
The ionic function may be switched on. Switch
the ionic function off.
