Troubleshooting
Remedy
• Make sure you are pointing the remote commander only at
the remote sensor on the VCR and not at the STB sensor.
• Make sure you are pointing the STB controller at the
remote sensor on the Set-Top Box.
• Make sure the STB controller is connected securely.
• The STB tuner brand number may be deleted if you
disconnect it from the VCR. Re-enter the brand code
number corresponding to your Set-Top Box (see page 32).
• Check that POWER SAVE in the OPTIONS-2 menu is set
to PARTIAL or OFF (see page 89).
• Check that DECODER/LINE3 in the OPTIONS-2 menu is
set to LINE3 (see page 89).
• Check that a tape is not already in the tape compartment.
• Make sure you are pointing the remote commander at the
remote sensor on the VCR.
• Replace all the batteries in the remote commander with
new ones if they are weak.
• Make sure the [TV] / [VIDEO] remote control switch is set
correctly.
• Check that DECODER/LINE3 in the OPTIONS-2 menu is
set to LINE3 (see page 89).
• Check that your TV complies with SMARTLINK,
MEGALOGIC, EASYLINK, Q-Link, EURO VIEW
LINK, or T-V LINK.
• Make sure you use the Scart cable to connect the VCR and
your TV.
• Make sure the Scart cable is connected securely.
• The recording condition of the tape is very poor and
tracking cannot be adjusted.
• The tracking meter does not appear when playing back an
NTSC-recorded tape.
• Set your TV's code number. The code number may change
when you replace the batteries of the remote commander.
• The display window automatically becomes dim when the
VCR is in standby or timer recording mode.
• Clean the cabinet, panel and controls with a dry, soft cloth,
or a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent
solution. Do not use any type of solvent, such as alcohol or
