1.2. System Enclosure and Connectivity The enclosure for the FW-300i is a rugged IP67 casing, supplied with a mounting bracket that has vertical tilt capabilities to mount the unit on towers, poles and building side walls. The IP67 casing protects the unit against dust and is capable of withstanding water immersion up to one meter for thirty minutes.

To attach the power supply kit onto FW-300i follow these steps: 1. Place the power supply bracket on the back of the FW-300i unit, in the lower center position. Align the two holes so that they are centered with the holes on the back of the module enclosure.

Socket Head Screws and Washers Attached 8.3.3. Mounting onto a Wall The swinging bracket has four wall-mounting holes that you can use to mount the FW-300i unit directly onto a wall. For wall installation, please contact BLiNQ Networks Customer Support for more information.
8.4.1. Grounding and Lightning Protection Ensure that you externally ground the FW-300i system. Two grounding screws with a two-hole lug are provided on the side of the unit enclosure for this purpose. Connect the ground lug to the main ground to safeguard against possible lightning strikes.
2. Use a socket wrench, and the unit’s two hex bolts and locking washers, to connect the two-hole grounding lug to the FW-300i. Figure 8.26 FW-300i with Grounding Lug shows the location of the lug on the unit (do not over tighten).
BLiNQ Networks Inc. FW-300i System Installation Guide Release 1.1 8.4.3. Installing DC Surge Protection BLiNQ Networks recommends the installation of the DC Surge Protector that is listed here. Depending on your installation, you may also need the DC Surge Protector pole mounting kit to aid in the installation of the recommended DC surge protection.
To install the DC lightning/surge protector, follow these general steps: 1. Mount the protection device as close to the FW-300i as possible. Mount the unit with the strain reliefs facing the ground, as shown in Figure 8.31, “Wiring of Lightning/Surge Arrestor”.

BLiNQ Networks Inc. FW-300i System Installation Guide Release 1.1 If you are using the BLiNQ AC surge protector, you also need a NEMA 4X-type weatherproof enclosure to complete the installation. Lightning/surge protectors MUST be grounded to work properly and may only be connected and installed by a qualified electrician.
If needed, consult Figure 8.35, “Wiring for a series connection” above for more information. 6. When connections are secure, close up the NEMA 4X-type weatherproof enclosure. 7. After you restore AC power, verify that the AC surge protector is working by observing that the FW-300i unit LED is ON.
The FW-300i is protected against an inadvertent reverse polarity connection. Ensure that the DC power supply is not under-rated and that it is capable of meeting the power requirement of Table 1 FW-300i System Parameters under various temperature and solar loading conditions.
8.5.4. DC Extension Cable Preparation (Optional) You can order the DC Extension Kit (#BMA00105) from BLiNQ Networks if you need to pull your own cable to power the FW-300i. It comes with a Female DC Connector and a Male DC Connector (see figure below).
