    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE ATTENTION! Where the shredder is delivered packaged, the elements of the packaging must not be left discarded as potential sources of risk. Remove the above to the appropriate collection places if they are contaminants and/or biode- gradable.

    At the time of purchase the shredder is as shown in Fig. 1, and is designed to be installed on the rear of the tractor that will need to be fi tted with a "uni- versal" rear hydraulic 3-point lift unit, second category, for the models MA, ML and third category for the mod.

    GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS It is recommended to carefully read these annotations in order to avoid situ- ations of danger. 1) In addition to the information in this manual it is also similarly important to respect the general provisions relating to safety, provided for the users of agricultural machines by current legislation of each country.

    UNLOADING AND UNPACKING Unloading of the shredder must be performed with the utmost attention by the operators in order to avoid damage to the machine and damage to the operators themselves. ATTENTION! Ensure that during the loading and unloading operations and during move- ment of the machine, there are no unauthorised persons in the area of op- erations.

    5) Connect the third point of the lifting unit, ensuring that the machine is perfectly fl at in relation to the ground, as indicated in paragraph 8.1. 6) Engage the hydraulic attachments to the oil distributors of the tractor (Fig. 17).

    Special protections on the tractor ATTENTION! It is essential to protect with walls made of Plexiglass or thick wire fi ne- mesh, all the parts or areas that could be affected by the spraying of objects or stones. ATTENTION! Below is an example of an agricultural tractor cab with wire mesh guards. ATTENTION! Adequate protection will prevent damage to the agricultural tractor and to yourself.

    Adaptation of the cardan shaft The cardan shaft supplied with the shredder is of standard length; it is there- fore necessary to adapt it to the tractor that will be used. For this contact an authorised workshop. 1) Remove the shaft in two halves, applying one part to the PTO in the trac- tor and the other to the PTO in the shredder.

    RULES FOR USE OF THE SHREDDER The application of additional apparatus to the tractor involves an imbalance of the weights on the axles. It is advisable to balance, as far as possible, the weights by adding ballast, on the front of the tractor. The ballast required can be calculated using the formula below (Fig.

    Position of the machine in relation to the ground Before starting the work check the position of the knives with with respect to the ground. Where it is discovered that these are touching the ground, intervene with adjustment of the levelling and roller and support, and with the lateral slide rails.

    8.1.2 Adjustment slide rails Adjust the position of the slide rails so that the knives or hammers do not touch the ground (Fig. 28). Correct adjustment avoids the tools touching the ground even when it is uneven. Ignoring these guidelines means rapid wearing of the knives causing imbalance of the tool shaft, thus causing ab- normal and early deterioration of the transmission belts.

    ORDINARY MAINTENANCE PERIODIC MAINTENANCE TASKS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THE EFFI- CIENCY AND THE CORRECT OPERATION OF THE MACHINE. ATTENTION! When carrying out maintenance, proceed as follows: - Switch off the power take-off and switch off the tractor engine - Rest the tool on the ground Do not stand for any reason behind the shredder when the tractor is in mo- tion.

    Adjustment of the belts and replacement The belts should be checked and adjusted after the fi rst 5 hours of work: thereafter, check the tension every 50 hours of work. Avoid replacing one belt only in order not to compromise the uniform tensioning of the belts. ATTENTION! All the operations of checking and replacing the belts must be performed with the tractor engine stopped, the PTO switched off, the parking brake...

    The machine is used for purposes not provided for its function. • Where, due to repairs not performed by Sicma s.r.l. or by the authorised retailer, or due to the fi tting of non original parts, the machine should undergo changes that cause damage to normal operation.
