• Make sure that the stipulations acc. to the EMC-Directive and
Low-Voltage-Directive as well as the EN-standards, electrical
and occupational safety directives and the local or national
regulations, respectively, are complied with.
• Make sure that the power supply is compatible with the data on
the nameplate of the drive motor. See Chapter Technical Data.
• Make sure that the power supply is compatible with the data on
the attached connection scheme. You find the connection
scheme in the terminal box cover of the Motor.
• Make sure that an overload protection is provided for the drive
motor.
• Make sure that the drive of the side channel blower will not be
affected by electric or electromagnetic disturbance from the
mains; if necessary seek advice from the AIRTECH service.
In case of mobile installation:
• Provide the electrical connection with grommets that serve as
strain-relief.
I n s t a l l a t i o n
CAUTION!
If there is a separate operating manual of the motor manu-
facturer, the information regarding installation can be found
there. (Connection description, electrical data).
The side channel blower comes without on/off switch. The control
of the side channel blower is to be provided in the course of instal-
lation.
The connection scheme is placed inside the terminal box cover. The
electrical data are to be read from the nameplate.
• Remove the dummy plug or carefully penetrate the openings for
the cable gland.
• Fasten the cable gland.
• Open the terminal box lid.
• Connect the protective conductor to the terminal with the corre-
sponding symbol
.
• Connect the motor according to the attached wiring diagram.
• Connect the motor overload protection (PTC thermistor, bimetal
switch) and, if necessary, standstill heating.
• Close the terminal box lid.
CAUTION!
Prior to starting-up it must be made sure that the side channel
blower is operated in the proper direction.
DANGER!
Clearances between bare and live parts and between them and
earth shall be at least 5.5 mm [0.217 in] (at a rated voltage of
UN ≤ 690 V).
It is important to ensure that no wire ends stick out when con-
necting.
Seal terminal box lid and cable duct openings dust-tight and
watertight.

• Determine the intended direction of rotation with the arrow
(stuck on or cast).
• "Bump" the drive motor.
• Hold a sheet of paper in front of the gas discharge port and
check if the paper sheet will be sucked in or blown away.
• If the rotation must be changed, switch any two of the drive
motor wires (three-phase motor).
NOTE: If certain applications require reverse operation, please
seek advice from your AIRTECH representative!
WARNING!
There is a risk of injury through suction. Never check the
direction of rotation with your hands. Hold a piece of paper on
the pressure side.

• Make sure that the power supply for external fan is compatible
with the data on the nameplate of the external fan.
• Make sure that the external fan is connected to a power source
independent of the motor.
• After connection, the direction of rotation of the external fan
must be checked.
C h e c k d i r e c t i o n o f r o t a t i o n
• Switch on the external fan for a few seconds.
• Hold a sheet in front of the fan outlet and check. When the sheet
is sucked in, the connection is correct.
• If the direction of rotation needs to be changed, check or change
the wiring according to the attached connection diagram.
WARNING!
There is a risk of injury through suction. Never check the
direction of rotation with your hands. Hold a piece of paper on
