UTP cable specifications

The Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 561T Adapter can deliver 10 gigabit Ethernet over an existing UTP Cat 6
copper cable, or better, according to the IEEE 802.3an specifications. Hewlett Packard Enterprise
recommends Cat 6A cable for new installations.
Cable distances:
• 10GBASE-T: 55m on Cat 6; 100m on Cat 6A
• 1000BASE-T: 100m on Cat 5e, Cat 6, or Cat 6A
To connect to the network, the Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 561T Adapter uses the following cable for
10GBASE-T transmission:
• Cat 6 (or better) UTP
• 22-26 AWG, 100 ohm at 1 MHz
• EIA/TIA 568-B.2-10b
