Often upgrading means that a new, extended version of Bewator Entro is to be in-
stalled from a CD (or DVD). This may mean that the PC software has been im-
proved and/or that functions have been added for wireless units.
Upgrades are implemented using the Bewator Entro Installer PC software. De-
pending on the effect of the changes, the installation wizard may require that firm-
ware in various units is updated. The wizard runs an automated dialogue with the
user to identify the required files.
In many cases however it is convenient to perform the updates manually.
Expansion requires the same planning as for a new site but some additional rec-
ommendations are given below:
More doors needed is possibly the most common case. Check that the segment
has address capacity for the new doors and set the new RF30-EM Codoors with
unused addresses. Check that no more than 14 doors are directly linked to the
controller or to a router.
There are various reasons for changing Segment controllers, for example:
1.
SR35i controllers may be added to give capacity for more doors.
2.
Replacement of the SR35i with a model supporting more doors (8, 16 or 32)
3.
Replacement of older SR34i with newer SR35i.
In case #1, the new SR35i controllers must be carefully located if wireless doors
are to be controlled, to ensure good signal strength as described in section 4.4.
Check that the power supply rating is sufficient for the additional load.
In some cases the signal range of an SR35i is not enough to reach a new door
(RF30-EM). Therefore additional RF9 routers must be installed. See also section
4.5 Placing the RF9.
Remember that a maximum of nine RF9 routers can exist in the same segment,
i.e. with the same Segment ID.
Further a maximum of four RF9 routers may form a chain between an SR35i and a
door, i.e. the messages can only "jump" five times.
