Connecting the TV

VCR and Cable Box

Before connecting a
cable box, see "Using
CableCARD Device" on
page 29.

For best results, use this connection if:
s Your cable TV company scrambles some channels, but not all of them
(pay channels vs. regular cable channels) and you need to use a cable
box.
With this connection you can:
s Use the TV's remote control to change channels on your cable box
when the signal is scrambled. To program your Sony remote control to
operate your cable box, see "Programming the Remote Control" on
page 44.
s Use the TV's remote control to change channels on your TV when the
signal is not scrambled. Your TV's tuner provides a better signal than
the cable box.
Disconnect all power sources before making any connections.

Connect the CATV cable to the single (input) jack of the splitter.

Use a coaxial cable to connect one of the output jacks of the splitter to
the TV's CABLE input jack.

Use a coaxial cable to connect the splitter's other output jack to the
cable box's input jack.

Use a coaxial cable to connect the cable box's output jack to the VCR's
RF input jack.

Use an A/V cable to connect the cable box's A/V output jacks to the
TV's A/V input jacks.

Use A/V and S VIDEO cables to connect the VCR's AUDIO and S
VIDEO OUT jacks to the TV's AUDIO and S VIDEO IN jacks.
If your VCR is not equipped with S VIDEO, use a VIDEO cable
(yellow) instead of the S VIDEO cable.

Run Initial Setup, as described in "Setting Up the Channel List" on page
31.
