Replacing recording on a tape

You can insert a new picture, sound, recording data/time, camera information, etc.,
from a VCR onto your already recorded tape by specifying the starting and ending
points.
Connection is the same as in "To use the DV connecting cable" on page 62.
(1) Set the POWER switch to ON and then set CAMERA/VTR to VTR.
(2) On the VCR, search for the start point to be inserted for playback, then set it to
playback pause mode.
(3) On the digital camcorder, search for the point where you want to end insert editing,
then set it to playback pause mode.
It is convenient to use EDITSEARCH.
(4) Press ZERO SET MEMORY.
The counter is reset to zero (0:00:00).
"ZERO SET MEMORY" flashes and the ending point is stored in memory.
(5) On the digital camcorder, search for the point where you want to start editing, then
set it to playback pause mode.
(6) Set the digital camcorder to recording pause mode.
(7) Press P on the digital camcorder and VCR simultaneously to start editing.
The editing starts and the new scene is inserted on the recorded tape. The editing
stops automatically near the counter zero point (0:00:00).

To change the end point
Press ZERO SET MEMORY so that "ZERO SET MEMORY" disappears.
Repeat steps 3 to 4.
To stop editing
Press π.
To edit without setting the end point
Instead of steps 3 and 4, press π at the desired end point.
Notes on editing
• You cannot edit with equipment which is not connected the DV connector.
• The previous recommended scene is erased when editing starts.
• The picture may be distorted at the end of the inserted portion when it is play back.
