 Although not tested, the system offers network authentication, a security
feature which requires users to log in (using their existing network ID and
password) before performing any network scanning functions.
 The unit performed well as a 33.6-Kbps fax, demonstrating good procedures
for transmitting documents from memory after a failed communication and
a competitive scan-to-memory speed of 2.65 seconds per page (for the 4
percent page coverage fax test document tested; scan to memory speed for
12 percent page coverage fax test document is 2.62 seconds).
 Print output produced by the Samsung SCX-6345N was very good overall.
Text was bold and sharp, though there was some break-up of the edges of
characters and minimal toner spray visible when viewed under magnifica-
tion. Lines were cleanly formed, thin lines on dark backgrounds were clearly
visible and diagonal lines displayed no stair-stepping; lines forming the cir-
cumference of circles, however, were of inconsistent line weight. Halftones
showed minimal graininess in fill areas and were visible over an excellent
range. Solids were good, with average density readings and minimal mot-
tling.
 Copy output produced by the Samsung SCX-6345N MFP was fair. Text was
bold; however, the edges of characters were jagged, showed evidence of
break-up and toner spray when viewed under magnification. Solids were
good, with average density readings and minimal mottling.
— Closely spaced fine lines blended together and line weight was inconsistent
when copying both straight and curved lines. Halftone fill areas were very
grainy and the lighter end of the halftone range was too light overall.
 Overall copy efficiency rates are competitive in 1:1 and 2:2 modes, while
efficiency in 1:2 mode is above average when compared to products in this
class tested.
 While overall print efficiency is competitive in simplex mode, efficiency
in duplex mode is above average when compared to products in this class
tested.
