Illustrations
In the sections that follow, illustrations are used to indicate the various machine parts and modules.
However, it should be noted that these are not shown to scale and that there may be slight variations
between the illustrations and the actual machine/modules in use. Therefore, for further information
regarding any particular part or module, reference should be made to the engineering drawings attached
as an Appendix to this manual.
It should also be noted that any slight variations between the illustrations and the actual part or module
do not affect the described operations of that part or module as described in the text.
Additionally, some illustrations may not show all parts – for example, pneumatic tubing may not be
shown for clarity – and some modules may be shown as mirror images.
The colours used in the illustrations do not reflect the colours of the actual parts – colours are used
simply to make it easier to see the various parts of a sub-assembly; colours may vary slightly between
different views of the same part.
Brief functional description of the bagging sequence
The operator fills the empty Bag Magazine which indexes the bag piles to feed to the Bag Dispenser.
The Pick-up Unit of the Bag Dispenser then picks up a bag and releases it on to the Belt Feed
Conveyor which transports the bag to the centering system which, in turn, transports the bag to the Bag
Openers which open the bag.
The Transfer Arm carries the open bag onto the Spout which moves down and opens in the filling
position.
Once the bag has been filled and the product settled by the Lower Transport (Posser) Unit, the bag is
grabbed by the clamps of the Transport Unit and released from the Spout.
The Transport Unit and the Lower Transport Unit then stretch the bag and transport it to the Upper
Exit Unit which grabs the top of the bag and, together with the Internal Conveyors, move it towards
the External Conveyor, sealing devices, Bag Turner and other outfeed units.
Further details of the main machine modules
Following the very brief description above, further details by module are given below for the major parts
of the system.
