CAUSE
~Relaxationshrinkagecan occurin knitfabricsthathavebeen improperly
stretchedand elongatedby the manufacturer, W henthis occurs,garmentmay
be pressedback into shapeaftereachwashand dry cycle.
~Progressive or delayedshrinkageis causedwhenstarchor sizing(in some
fabrics)is graduallyremovedby laundering. T his maYalSO be noti~edin older
garmentsthathavebeen washedmanytimeswithoutpreviousshrinkage. T reat

~Shrinkagecausedby overheatingoccursin certainknitfabricsthathave
beenheat-shaped. W henwashing,dryingor ironingtemperaturesexceedthe
temperaturesusedto shapeset, shrinkagemay occur.This cannotbe corrected,
but it can be preventedby washingin coolor warmwaterand dryingon Low
or Delicateheat.
e Leavingclothesin dryeraftertumbling stops.Removeandhangclothesimmediately.
e Toomany clothesin dryer.Dry only onewasherload at a time. Do not combine
loads.
~Improperloads.AvoidlaunderingheavyPemanent Press iterns,suchas work
clothes,with lighterPermanentPress itemssuch as shirtsor blouses.Do not
washPermanentPress itemswithregularlaundry.
~Toomanyclothesin washer.PermanentPress loadsshouldalwaysbe smaller
than regularloads...no morethanmediumloadsto giveclothesroomto movefreely.
~Incorrectwashand dry cycles.Use PermanentPressWashcyclewhichprovides
a cooldownrinseto minimizewrinkling.Also use PermanentPressDry cycle.
~Incorrectwaterlevel.Use HighWaterLevelfor MediumLoad,MediumLevel
for SmallLoad.
~Repeatedwashingin too hot water.Washin cold or warm waterwith plentyof
detergent,
e Accumulationof lime scaledueto use of carbonatedetergents.If you mustuse
anon-phosphatedetergent,avoidthe use of high-carbonate-built detergent.
~Failureto use fabricsoftener.Properuse will minimizewrinkling.
To remove wrinkles:
$RetumbleorIPermanentPress setting.
e Rerinseand dry on PermanentPress setting.
~If unsuccessful, r etumbleon highheatfor 10to 12minutesandhangimmediatey.
~Send to dry cleanersfor pressing.
~Some wrinklesmay remainwhichcannotbe removed.
~Pins on garmentsor sharpobjectsleft in pockets.Checkto make sure all such
objectsare removed.Also checkwashtub.
~Snaps,hooks,sharpbuttons,beltbuckles,zippers.Fastenhooks,zippersand
buttons.Removeshq buttonsand belt buckles.This is especiallyimportant
in washingknitswhich snag
easily.
Turnknits insideout.
~Holes with randomsquareshapeswith yellowdiscolorationmay be causedby
improperuse of chlorinebleach.Use only correctamountof bleach.See Other
LaundryProductssection.Neveradd undilutedbleachto wash tub or allow
clothesto comeinto contactwith undilutedbleach.Do not wipe up bleach
s~illswith clothes.
