POSSIBLECAUSE
~Incorrectsortingof clothes.Separatelint producers(suchas terry towelsand
chenille)from lint receivers(suchas man-madefabrics,velveteen,corduroy).
*Washingtoo long,especiallyfor smallerloads.For normalsoil, washone minute
per poundof dry clothes.

*?_Jse o f non-phosphate detergentswhichcombinewith hardnessrnineralsto
form a precipitatewhichcan be mistakenfor lint. Use a phosphateor liquid
detergent;use warmerwash wateror sofienwater with an installedmechanical
softeneror a packagedwater softener.
*Powderyresiduefrom granulardetergentmay appearto be lint. Predissolve
granulardetergentin hot water beforeaddingto washer;make sure detergentis
completelydissolvedbeforeaddingclothes;switchto liquidor cold water
detergentor use warmerwash water.See DetergentGuide.
~Overloadingwill causeabrasionwhichcreatesexcessivelint. Washfeweritems
with correctwaterlevel.
6Toomuch bleach.Use correctamountof bleach accordingto packagedirections.

~Incorrectuse of fabricsoftener.Musedin wash cycle,softenersmay react with

~Pillingusuallyon polyester-cotton blendsis causedby normalwear and may look
like lint. Turningclothesinside-outmay providesomehelp.
~Staticelectricity y causedby overdryingwill cause attraction.Use fabricsoftener
in rinsecycle.
These are sometimescalled "Invisible Stains"becauseyoumaynotnoticethem
beforewashingclothes.However,if oily soilsare-notcompletelyremovedin
wash cycle,the oilyspotsmaypickup dirtfromthe washwater.me spotswill
