Important
• Read the instructions for use carefully in conjunction with the illustrations before using the
appliance.
• Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage rating shown on the underside
corresponds with your mains voltage.
• Before cleaning, always remove the plug from the mains outlet and let the appliance cool
down sufficiently.
• Do not drop hard objects on the cooking plate, as this may lead to breakage.
• Place the pan properly in the centre of the plate. Hand grips of small pans may become hot.
• Turn the cooking plate down in good time to prevent boiling over.
• Do not use plastic containers or aluminium foil on the hotplate.
• Keep plastic spoons, cables, etc. away from the plate.
• Keep a free space of about 10 cm (4") around the appliance to prevent damage due to
radiated heat.
• Never immerse the appliance in water. You can wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
• Make sure the mains cord never touches the hot plate or pans.
• Keep a watchful eye on children, especially when the appliance is hot.
• To prevent the hotplate becoming marked ensure saucepans are dry on the outside before
placing them on the hotplate - also immediately remove water etc. splashes from the
hotplate.
• Do not cover the ventilation slots in the bottom and at the back of the appliance.
• Overheated fat and oil may catch fire. Therefore food which is prepared in hot oil or fat
should never be left unsupervised on a hot cooking plate.
• If any cracks or fissures develop as a result of extreme influences, the appliance should be
switched off and unplugged at once and must be handed in for repair.
• Please be careful with jewellery, e.g. diamond rings: sharp edges could cause scratches on
the glass ceramic surface.
• Pots and pans may have edges or burrs on their bottoms which may leave nasty marks or
scratch or grate on the surface when the pot or pan is moved. This especially applies to
cast iron cooking pots and enamel pans.
• The bottom of the pots and pans placed on the cooking plate should be dry and clean.
Enamel and glass pans should not be boiled dry.
• For extra safety the appliance will automatically switch back to "Stand by" position after
180 minutes use without resetting or restarting.
• Do not leave utensils or other items on the cooking plate when the appliance is not in use.
• Do not stare into the heating unit when in operation.
• If the mains cord of this appliance is damaged, it must only be replaced by Philips or their
service representative, as special tools and/or parts are required.
