The pan lifting tool is used to raise the front end of the bag
support pan assembly. This allows for easy access to the pit
for cleaning of the pit area.
Be certain, before climbing into the dock leveler pit or
doing any maintenance or repair under the dock leveler,
that: 1) THE MAINTENANCE STRUT IS IN POSITION
AND PINNED, LIP LOCK IS IN PLACE AND SUPPORTING
THE LIP [see Fig. 31 on page 23] and 2) the power is
disconnected and properly tagged or locked off.

1. To raise the bag pan assembly:

1.1 Position dock leveler on maintenance strut. See
page 23 for instructions.
1.2 Position pan lifting tool, part number 908-773, in pit
and hook tool on pan axle in the center of the pit.
See Fig. 32.
1.3 Using both hands, pull down on handle. This will
rotate the pan lifting tool on its wheels, pushing the
pan assembly upwards. See Fig. 33.
1.4 Move the handle down to the pit floor. See Fig. 34.
The lifting tool will snap into position, supporting
the pan in a raised position. Access to pit floor is
clear.

2. To lower the bag pan assembly:

2.1 Using both hands, carefully raise the handle of the
lifting tool. As the pan begins to lower, you will need
to hold the handle to support the pan assembly and
prevent the handle from raising rapidly. See Fig.
35.
2.2 Lower the pan assembly to the pit floor.
2.3 Remove lifting tool from pit.
