This problem may manifest itself in a bolt failure in the mold assembly mechanism, which may result in the possible ejection of the sheared bolt. The containment cover assembly included with this kit is designed to encapsulate the mold assembly and bolts in the event of a failure. WARNING We strongly recommend that this containment cover remain in place at all times during operation of the SimpliMet XPS1 Mounting Press. Unpacking Carefully unpack and check the contents. If any components are missing or damaged, save the packing list and materials and advise the carrier and Buehler of the discrepancy. Improper operation, handling, or maintenance can result in equipment damage or personal injury. Installation Installing the Labels 1. With the upper mold closure mechanism closed, clear any debris and mold material from the top ring surface. Note: For information about how to close the mold mechanism, refer to the Operator’s Manual or download a copy here: http://www.buehler.com/XPS1-Certify.php. 2. Apply the RING WARNING LABEL to the outer right edge of the lower mold mechanism. 3. Apply the COVER WARNING LABEL in between the lock and unlock symbols of the lower mold mechanism. Open the upper mold closure mechanism. Note: For information about how to close the mold mechanism, refer to the Operator’s Manual or download a copy here: http://www.buehler.com/XPS1-Certify.php. 2. Hold on to the rear of the cover with both hands. Apply the cover assembly by pressing the containment cover all the way forward against the lower mold mechanism. 3. Align the containment cover with lower mold mechanism and the mold closure post. 4. Once correctly aligned, the magnets will securely snap the containment cover into place. Close the upper mold closure mechanism. 6. Power OFF the unit. 7. The SimpliMet XPS1 is ready for use. Note: For information about how to close the mold mechanism, refer to the Operator’s Manual. 8. In order to remove the containment cover for maintenance or mold cleaning, open the upper mold closure mechanism and then lift the rear corners of the cover. Reinstall the cover before use.
