NTRODUCTION NTENDED USE This guide for safety breakaway couplings SBC is intended for operators and planners of tankers and tank systems as well as for hose assembly workshops and hose assembly workshop maintenance engineers. The safety breakaway coupling acts as a safety component in the supply line of mobile refuelling systems, preventing damage to the environment whenever the supply pipe bursts during filling or emptying due to a change in location of the tank. -

AFETY ULES Before you install any MannTek equipment it is essential to check that the material and performance specifications are acceptable for your specific application. The pressure ratings and primary materials of the construction are clearly indicated on the identification plate of each MannTek product. A drawing showing the materials of construction relating to each individual component is available upon request. -

Operating Manual RANSPORT AND STORAGE The product may only be transported or stored when absolutely clean. Suitable sealing must be used for the openings to ensure no damage occurs to the surfaces/sealed areas. The seals may only be removed by trained personnel. -

REPAIR SERVICE To comply with Health & Safety Regulations, all returned valves must be accompanied by a Certificate of Cleanliness and a Data Sheet for the last product carried (even the cleaner). -

The correct installation of all MannTek products is essential to ensure safe and satisfactory operation. Checks should be made to ensure that the fitting of MannTek products does not interfere with the correct operation of affiliated equipment (i.e. isolation valve, excess flow valves, etc). Before securing the flange or thread connection to mating equipment (i.e. - Page 12 Operating Manual The MannTek product can be installed directly in the product line and is ready for use after removing the transport protection. The installation is as follows: Remove the packaging and the tread/flange protection Check the coupling for damages before mounting.

Operating Manual PERATION ENERAL NOTES Operators are obliged to provide qualified and trained personnel familiar with the handling of supply pipes, safety couplings, any fluid being pumped as well as its danger potential. Such staff must also be familiar with the applicable safety regulations and the regulations of the employer’s liability association. -

In case the tank wagon rolls away or someone forgot to disconnect the supply line before the truck drives off, the SBC is activated as follows: Before the supply line is stressed by undue external forces the support ring is pulled out by a pull cable running parallel to the supply line which releases the pressure clamps. -

In case of failure or break away order the SBC-SEAL SET and carry out repairs according to the assembly instructions in chapter 6.4. Tool for SBC A special tool for the piston guide of the SBC can be ordered from MannTek. O-ring tools Special tools to remove the O-rings can be ordered from MannTek. -

O-ring, which must be pressed into the groove on the piston. Make sure to use recommended suitable grease. For mounting the new O-ring use MannTek spare parts only. MannTek tools are helpful for a quick and safe fix of the O-ring. 2018-10-09 17 of 20... - Page 18 Fixate piston The piston is sticking out on the other side, therefore place the coupling half on distances for easier assemble. Mount the piston guide with MannTek special made tool, makes work easier and will increase safety. Leakage test Test both coupling halves separately according to 6.5 before continuing with next step of assembling.

Page 19: Pressure And Tightness Test
Operating Manual Ready to use After coupling is completely reassembled and all tests are done the coupling is ready for use. Loctite® is registered trademark of Henkel. RESSURE AND TIGHTNESS TEST After each service a pressure and tightness test of each coupling is mandatory. Test each half separately before you connect both halves with the breaking pins. -
