Carefully remove your telephone from its box.

Quick Reference Guide A pullout guide is located on the bottom of your C500. It will allow you to quickly reference operations of your telephone such as BOOST and Memory Storage. SETUP MENU The C500 automatically enters the Setup mode when powered up or if the MODE key is pressed for more than three (3) seconds.

VOICE MAIL NUMBER Allows you to store an access number for quick message retrieval. Enter the digits of the access number. Press the DOWN ARROW to save information and move to the next menu selection. EASY MODE (toggle) EASY mode allows the phone opera- tions to be simplified.

Once the Hold feature is activat- ed, the HOLD INDICATOR will illumi- nate. When C500 is on hold, the handset can be placed in the cradle, and another extension on the phone line can be used to pick up the call.

Setup Menu (see page 12), pressing this button when it is flashing will automati- cally dial to retrieve messages. Operating Your Telephone Mode: (MODE BUTTON) Allows the phone to be switched from CID call review to the PhoneBook or vice-versa.
PhoneBook modes will remove the entry displayed. While pro- gramming a new number into the telephone, the DEL button will func- tion like a backspacing erase key. Pressing and holding the DEL button while in CID or PhoneBook mode will delete all the entries in the list.

VOICE MAIL AND MESSAGE WAITING OPERATIONS The C500 will work in conjunction with Voice Mail or Message Waiting services. IMPORTANT: You must subscribe to a Voice Mail or Message Waiting service from your local telephone company to utilize this feature.
Operating Your Telephone While you are having a conversation, the telephone will display the name and number of the second caller. Press the FLASH button to answer the second caller. The first caller’s name and number will appear. When you are finished, press the FLASH button again to return to your first call.

Hands Free Dialing The telephone can be dialed without lift- ing the handset or pressing the HEAD- SET button (if a headset is plugged in). This feature allows you to dial the phone number and correct mistakes with the DEL button rather than hanging up and redialing.
Do Not Work Or The Hands Free Dialing Does Not Work. • Press the MODE key to confirm the easy mode state. If the telephone is in EASY mode, these features will not work. Turn off EASY mode (in Setup Menu) if you wish to use these features (see page 11).

PBX Systems. If a standard, single line phone works on the system, your C500 should also. • The C500 is not compatible with key systems or AT & T PBX Systems. These units have a large electronic box controlling many phones as one unit.
The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connect- ed to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0).
