11. Unscrew the water outlet hosetail locking nut (4) and thread one end of the
through the hole in the locking nut and push it onto the water outlet hosetail.
12. Re-attach the water outlet hosetail locking nut (4) and securely tighten. Please Note: Failure
to do so could result in leaks.
USEFUL TIP: There are a number of fittings and accessories supplied with the V
90° hosetails, which can be used to help return the filtered water to your aquarium or
sump. dditional connection fittings may be required, depending on individual installation
requirements.
Please Note: To prevent any risk of back-siphoning, the outlet of the hosing returning the
filtered water to the aquarium or sump SHOULD NOT be located below the water surface
in the aquarium or sump.
Please see diagrams below for some suggested installation options.
OPER TION
1. Make sure all connections are tightly secured.
2. Ensure the filter lid (5) is correctly positioned and is securely hand
tightened. Please Note: Failure to do so could result in leaks.
3. Start with the water flow control valve (14) in a fully closed
position. Please Note: Failure to do so could result in over-
fluidisation of the media and the media being pumped out of the filter
and into your aquarium or sump once your pump/power filter is
switched on.
INITIAL OPERATION
1. Switch on your pump/power filter.
2. Slowly adjust the water flow control valve (14) until the correct
flow of water is achieved and the media is fluidising at the correct
level (ideally between the max and min fluidising levels shown in
the photo on the right). Please note: It may take a few minutes
for the correct fluidising level to be achieved.
Caution: If you notice the entire bed of sand moving up the filter in
one clump, quickly fully close the water flow control valve (14) and
switch off your pump or power filter. Wait for a few minutes for the air
to escape and the media to settle at the bottom of the filter and then
switch the pump or power filter back on and adjust the water flow control
valve (14) accordingly.
