HOOK-UP AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Alternative IR Control Setups
Controlling Additional AV Components
You may purchase additional IR emitters to control more AV components. However, one IR emitter can control more
than a single AV component, depending on your setup.
The IR emitters have an approximate range of 5–10 feet, so you do not need to have the IR emitter heads placed directly
over your AV components' IR receiver eyes for them to work.
To try this setup, temporarily secure the emitter head on the component cabinet shelf instead of directly over
the component's IR eye (see illustration), and test to see if all of your remote commands are being routed properly.
NOTE: This system is more prone to poor signal reception. Placing the IR emitter heads directly over AV component's
IR eyes ensures ideal signal transmission.
IR Setup Without External Receiver
Your HDP IR 2550 also features wide angle IR (infrared) Receivers
built into the front of the PowerCenter so it can distribute IR commands
from your remote control without using the external receiver. You may keep
your other AV components hidden, but your PowerCenter must remain in full view
to receive IR commands from your remote (see illustration). Follow the same setup steps
and testing for the IR emitters in steps 4–7.
