To access the log area of the Be Modern 1174 fire, first disconnect the appliance from the mains supply. Then, remove the brackets in the top left and right corners of the glass screen by unscrewing the 4 screws (2 per side) while supporting the glass from the front. After removing the brackets, lift the glass panel upwards and forwards to remove it. This gives access to the log area behind the glass.
