2.1 COOLING.
It is important that t h e interior of t h e instrument
be adequately ventilated; therefore make s u r e t h e a i r
h o l e s i n t h e cover, e s p e c i a l l y t h o s e on t h e right s i d e ,
a r e not blocked.
2.2 POWER SUPPLY.
Connect the p u l s e generator t o a source of power
a s indicated by t h e legend a t t h e input s o c k e t a t
t h e rear of the instrument, using t h e power cord pro-
vided. While normally connected for 115-volt operation,
t h e transformer input circuit is s o arranged t h a t one
c a n make t h e conversion from 115-volt t o 215-volt
operation simply by throwing a s w i t c h located directly
below the input socket. T o d o t h i s , unscrew t h e two
clamp f a s t n e r s on the back of the instrument and s l i d e
off the d u s t cover. F l i p the switch over s o that t h e
white indicator
is
on t h e

235-volt s i d e . T h e circuit
c a n a l s o b e adapted t o accommodate a 230-volt line.
T o d o t h i s , s e t t h e line voltage switch t o the 195- t o
233-volt position, and remove t h e two wires from ter-
minal 2 L , which is on t h e same panel a s t h e line volt-
a g e s w i t c h , and connect them t o terminal 2. F o r instru-
ments changed t o 215-volt or 230-volt operation, name-
p l a t e s ( T y p e LAP166E5 for 215-volt operation, T y p e
LAP166E2 for 230-volt o p e r a t i o n ) may be ordered from
General Radio.
2.3 RACK MOUNTING.
T h e p u l s e generator c a n b e rack-mounted by
means of a T y p e 480-P312 Relay-Rack Adaptor P a n e l
S e t ( c a t a l o g number 0480-9632). T h e adaptor p a n e l s
a r e f i n i s h e d in charcoal gray crackle paint t o match t h e
front p a n e l of t h e instrument and come complete with
t h e n e c e s s a r y hardware t o mount t h e instrument in t h e
rack. T o make t h e installation, proceed a s follows:
(a.) Remove t h e rubber feet. R e t a i n the s c r e w s .
(b.) Remove and retain t h e s c r e w s that s e c u r e t h e
front panel t o t h e aluminum end frames ( s e e F i g u r e
2-1).
(c.) Remove t h e s p a c e r s between t h e front p a n e l and
t h e end frames.
(d.) I n s t a l l two c l i p s on e a c h wing using lock wash-
e r s and n u t s provided ( s e e Figure 2-2).
(e.) Attach t h e wings t o t h e instrument with t h e front
p a n e l s c r e w s removed in s t e p b ( s e e Figure 2-3
).
(f.) T h e assembly is now ready co be rack-mounted
i n
a
standard 19-inch relay rack.
