SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
5.1 WARRANTY.
Before returning a n instrument to General Radio
We warrant that e a c h new instrument sold by us
is free from defects in material and workmanship and
that, properly used, it will perform in full accordance
with applicable specifications for a period of two years
after original shipment. Any instrument or component
that is found within the two-year period not t o meet
t h e s e standards after examination by our factory, s a l e s
engineering office, or authorized repair agency person-
n e l will be repaired or, a t our option, replaced without
charge, except for tubes or batteries that have given
normal service.
5.2 SERVICE.
The two-year warranty stated above a t t e s t s the
quality of materials and workmanship in our products.
When difficulties d o occur, our service engineers will
a s s i s t in any way possible. If the difficulty cannot be
eliminated by use of the following service instructions,
p l e a s e write or phone our Service Department ( s e e rear
cover), giving full information of the trouble and of
s t e p s taken t o remedy it. Be sure t o mention the s e r i a l
and type number of the instrument.
for s e r v i c e , please write to our Service Department or
nearest s a l e s engineering office, requesting a Returned
Material Tag. Use of t h i s tag will ensure proper han-
dling and identification. For instruments not covered
by the warranty, a purchase order should be forwarded
t o avoid unnecessary delay.
5.3 REMOVAL OF COVER.
T o open the instrument for a c c e s s to components,
loosen the large fluted screw a t the rear of the right-
hand side of the cabinet. Then grasp the panel by the
top and bottom e d g e s with one hand, and with the other
hand s l i d e the aluminum dust cover away from the panel
and off the rear.
All components are easily a c c e s s i b l e . See Figures
5-3, 5-4,
and
5-6
for location of components.
5.4
ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.
5.4.1 LUBRICATING THE FAN MOTOR.
For long, trouble-free operation, lubricate the fan
motor a t l e a s t once a year with SAE 20 or 30 premium-
quality oil. There are two lubricating holes, one in
