Checking Engine Oil Level

WARNING
Risk of burns. Allow engine to cool before
draining oil or coolant. Failure to do so
could result in death or serious injury.
WARNING
Skin irritation. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with
used motor oil. Used motor oil has been shown to cause
skin cancer in laboratory animals. Thoroughly wash
exposed areas with soap and water.
CAUTION
Engine damage. Verify proper type and quantity of
engine oil prior to starting engine. Failure to do so
could result in engine damage.
Proceed as follows to check the engine oil level:
1. Turn the main line circuit breaker (MLCB) (genera-
tor disconnect) on the generator to OFF (OPEN).
2. Disengage
the
generator.
3. Turn the generator off.
4. Press the control panel OFF button. Wait five
minutes.

4-2. Remove the dipstick (A) and wipe
it dry with a clean cloth.
6. Completely insert the dipstick and again remove it.
7. Observe the oil level. The level should be at the
"FULL" mark on the dipstick.
8. If necessary, remove the oil fill cap and add oil to
the engine until the level reaches the "FULL" mark
and reinsert the dipstick and fill cap.
To restart the generator:
1. Press the control panel AUTO button.

2. Allow the generator to start and warm up for a few
minutes.
3. Set the generator disconnect on the generator to
ON (CLOSED).
4. The system is now operating in automatic mode.
The connected loads can now be engaged.

Engine Oil Requirements

To maintain the product warranty, the engine oil should
be serviced in accordance with the recommendations of
this
manual.
Maintenance Kits are available that include engine oil, oil
filter, air filter, spark plug(s), a shop towel, and a funnel.
These kits can be obtained from an IASD.
All Generac oil kits meet minimum American Petroleum
Institute (API) Service Class SJ, SL, or better. Do not use
special additives.
Required Oil—
Synthetic SAE 5W-30 for all temperature ranges.
Engine damage. Verify proper type and quantity of
engine oil prior to starting engine. Failure to do so
