5-Quart Sharps Recovery System™
This Sharps Compliance, Inc. 5-Quart Sharps Recovery System (System) contains
everything required to safely package your needles, syringes, lancets and other
biohazardous materials to be mailed for proper treatment.

• Outer shipping box with pre-attached USPS Merchandise Return Label (return postage is prepaid)
• Inner box
• Welcome bag with 4 mil plastic bag liner, container instructions (R98334H), System instructions,
twist-tie and tape
• One 5-qt SharpsStar™ sharps container with absorbent pad
• Tracking Document on outside of shipping box
PRECAUTIONS – READ PRIOR TO PROCEEDING
• DO NOT place mercury or lead-containing devices or batteries into this container.
• DO NOT place drugs or chemotherapeutic agents into this container unless program previously
established. Contact Sharps at 800-772-5657 for the appropriate System or labeling method to assure
proper treatment.
• Never try to retrieve anything from sharps collection container.
• Always keep container secured from unauthorized persons.
• Follow proper container use and packaging instructions.
• All persons preparing this System for shipment must follow proper packaging instructions included in
this document. Contact Sharps at 800.772.5657 with questions.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations regarding filling, handling, transport, and tracking of this
product. New Jersey regulated generators attach NJ Tracking Form to Sharps tracking form before
placing into the plastic pouch for mailing.
• DO NOT overfill.
• Container is puncture-resistant, not puncture-proof. Carry full container by top.
• Empty all products free of liquids as much as possible.
• DO NOT remove absorbent pad from container.
• DO NOT mail container in any box other than the one supplied with this system.
• Adhere to the maximum return weight for this system.

TRAINING & INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR SHARPS RECOVERY SYSTEM
Order your new 5-Quart Sharps Recovery System before this system is full.
1. Remove container from packaging and assemble according to instructions included with container (R98334H).
2. Secure container in wall enclosure (see mounting instructions R98346F included with wall enclosure).
Save all components for repackaging System for mailing.
3. Place sharps or biohazardous materials into container (Fig. 1).
4. Secure lid according to instructions (R98334H) (Fig. 2).
5. When ready for mailing, place closed container into the plastic bag and box. Securely seal bag around
container using twist-tie.
6. Close the box flaps and tape.
7. Remove the tracking form from the plastic pouch located on the outside of the shipping box. Make sure
the top portion of the form is completed and sign. Remove the bottom copy of the form and retain it for
your records. Return the remaining copies of the form into the plastic pouch with the barcode facing out.
8. For tracking purposes, log on to your SharpsTracer® account at www.sharpstracer.com and enter the box
number. To sign up for this free service, call 800.772.5657.
9. Take the properly sealed package to any U.S. Post Office, give to your mail carrier, or arrange a priority
pickup from your post office at www.sharpsinc.com. ONLY SHIP THROUGH USPS.
Postage will be paid by Sharps Compliance.
10. Upon arrival and processing at the Sharps Compliance treatment facility, the system will be treated in
compliance with all state and federal regulations.
11. Download your Proof of Recovery from your SharpsTracer® account at www.sharpstracer.com in 30-45 days.
