This Sharps Compliance, Inc. Sharps® Recovery System (System) contains
everything required to safely contain, package and ship your sharps containers
and other biohazard-contaminated items for proper treatment.

• Outer shipping box with pre-attached USPS pre-paid shipping label (return postage is prepaid)
• Inner box lined with 4 mil plastic bag
• 5-gallon plastic pail collection container with 4 mil plastic bag liner and absorbent pads
• Tape, twist-ties, and instructions
• Tracking Document on outside of shipping box
PRECAUTIONS – READ PRIOR TO PROCEEDING
• Do not place mercury or lead-containing devices or batteries into this container.
• Do not place drugs or chemotherapeutic agents into this container. Contact Sharps at 800-772-5657 for
the appropriate System or labeling method to assure proper treatment.
• DO NOT PLACE LOOSE SHARPS INTO THIS PAIL.
• Always keep containers secured from unauthorized persons.
• All persons preparing this System for shipment must follow proper packaging instructions.
• Follow your state-specific regulations regarding storage, manifesting, and other requirements. Visit

• Empty all products free of liquids as much as possible.
• Do not remove absorbent pads from pail container.
• Do not overfill pail as lid must fit down tightly.
• Ready-to-mail package may not exceed 25 lbs.
• Do not place more than 50ml (1.66 ounces) of liquids into any sharps container placed into the 5-gallon pail.

TRAINING & INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR ShARPS® RECOvERY SYSTEM
Order your new Sharps® Recovery System before this system is filled.
1. Remove pail from packaging and place in desired location. Save all components for repackaging System
for shipping.
2. Press latch and twist counter-clockwise to remove lid (Fig.1).
3. Place non-sharps items and sharps containers into plastic-lined 5-gallon pail (Fig. 2). Do not place loose
sharps in the pail.
4. When ready for shipping, securely seal bag around contents using twist tie.
5. To secure lid on pail, seat at locations of threads and twist clockwise. Make sure lid is tightly sealed.
6. Once full, place the pail into the plastic bag and box. Securely seal bag around pail using twist-tie.
7. Remove the Tracking Form from the plastic pouch on the side of the box, and complete Generator
Section and removed the bottom copy of completed form for your records. Place the remaining copies
of the Tracking Form back in the plastic pouch on the outside of the box and seal.
8. Close the box flaps and tape. Write your return address on the top of the box.
9. For tracking purposes, log on to your SharpsTracer account at www.sharpstracer.com and enter the box
number. To sign up for this free service, call 800.772.5657.
10. Hand the box to your USPS mail carrier, take to the post office, or schedule a Priority Mail pick-up at
www.sharpsinc.com/usps.htm. NO ADDITIONAL POSTAGE IS NECESSARY.
11. Upon arrival at Sharps'treatment facility, the box will be treated and re-purposed prior to transfer for

12. Download your Proof of Recovery from your SharpsTracer account at www.sharpstracer.com in 30-45 days.
