Cleaning the Transfer Head and Nozzle (Front Side)

This section describes cleaning the nozzle holder and vacuum filter of transfer head used at the
feeder bay 4, and the nozzle set on the transfer head.
At first, understand the role of each part and carry out the maintenance following procedures.
Nozzle and nozzle holder
The nozzle is the part for pickup and mount, directly contacting with parts to mount.
The nozzle holder is at the lower part of the transfer head, and chucks the nozzles.

Nozzle holder
Nozzle holder taper face
Dirt on the taper face of the nozzle holder
prevents the nozzle from contacting with it and
cause air leakage in chucking with the nozzle.
This condition prevents the nozzle from picking
up chips properly to worsen the mount accu-
racy and make false pickup.
Nozzle taper face
This is the part to be chucked by the nozzle
holder of the transfer head. The taper face or
chucking groove with dust or dirt causes air
leakage or false chucking.
Nozzle reflector
This is the black resin part. To prevent the
surface from being dirty, the special coating is
given to it. Chips are recognized reflecting the
LED light in the recognition of chips. This part
with dirt causes false recognition.
Nozzle tip (Nozzle)
This is the part to directly contact with and pick
up chips. The sides with dust can be the
shadow in recognition and cause the false
recognition. The dirt in the pickup hole causes
false pickup.
Pickup pad
The nozzle with the pickup pad which is
matched to the chip shape can be used for
more stable pickup. Damage on this pickup
pad causes the air leakage and false pickup.
