11.1.3 Condensation

Condensation of flue gases can occur on the cold
surfaces of the combustion chamber and the flue
gas discharge pipe when the water heater is
filled with cold water or when the warm water
usage is very high. Condense water can drop on
the burners which can lead to hissing noise. This
noise will disappear when the water heater has
reached its normal operating temperature again.
c
Caution
Never take the water heater in operation when
the cold water supply is closed.
