2.5 DISC PLAY
NOTE
This procedure i s equal for CD BRIDGE di s cs, CD-I READY
discs and PHOTO CDs, And for Di g i t al Vi d eo discs and
Vi d eo CD' s when a Digital Video Cartridge has been
installed,
CAUTION
- NEVER LEAVE A STILL PICTURE ON THE SCREEN
FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. THIS CAN CAUSE
BURNING-IN OF THE PICTURE TUBE. IN SUCH A
CASE SWITCH OFF THE PLAYER OR REMOVE THE
DISC.
Playing a CD-I di s c depends on the value of Autoplay (see
settings). The factory setting i s default "OFF".
When autoplay i s "OFF":
After l o adi n g the di s c, the CD-I start-up screen appears
on the TV.
To start the CD-I program, select the ' P l a y' i c on on the
screen and click on i t .
2. When autoplay i s "ON":
After loading the di s c, the CD-I program wi l l start up
automatically.
The openi n g screen of the CD-I program now appears on
the TV. From this point, al l interaction i s between you and
the program. To stop at any ti m e, select the STOP or
EXIT function provided by the CO-I program.
After l o adi n g the di s c, the CD-I start-up screen appears on
the TV.
• To start the Photo CD program, select the ' P LAY CD-I'
i c on on the screen: you may al s o press the PLAY button
(5) on the player or remote control (6).
The openi n g screen of the Photo CD program now ap-
pears on the TV.
At
the bottom of this screen a menu bar wi t h icons i s
shown.
• Select the

i c on.
The ' O ptions' screen will now appear.
• To select a language cl i c k on the box, the fl a g or the
name of a country.
The previous setting wi l l be replaced automatically.
Select the
...,J
i c on (Return) of thi s screen to go back to
the Photo CD opening screen.
• Select the
h
i c on (Information) and the INFORMATION
screen, explaining the control buttons of the menu bar i n
the selected language, appears.
• From this point, al l interaction i s between you and the
program.

NOTE: Thi s procedure can al s o be used for audio sections
on 5 i n ch (12 cm) laser di s cs.
After loading the di s c, the CD-Audio screen appears on the
TV.
1. Play track bar:
Shows the total number of tracks (up to 30). You can
' p oint-and-click' to select any track. For discs wi t l 1 more
than 30 tracks, the right

scroll arrows are
used to move through the track l i s t.
2. PROGRAM: Allows you to program a list of special tracks
called a Favorite Track Selection. When you select
PROGRAM, the FTS track bar and the FTS i c on wi l l
appear.

FTS: Al l o ws you to play Favorite Track Selections. This
i c on only appears i f a Favorite Track Selection has been
created for the disc that i s l o aded i n the player.
4. SCAN: Al l o ws you to listen to the beginning of every track
listed i n the play track bar. You can set the scan ti m e to 5.
10 or 20 seconds i n the ' O ptions' screen.
5. SHUFFLE: Al l o ws you to play the tracks i n the pl a y track
bar i n a random order.
6. REPEAT: Allows you to repeat either a track or the entire
di s c. You can change the repeat mode i n the ' O ptions'
screen.
?.TRACK/TIME window:
- After loading, and i n STOP mode, this shows the total
number of tracks and the total pl a yi n g ti m e. When you
click at this window (7), the track ti m e of the selected track
i s displayed.
- In PLAY and PAUSE modes. the wi n dow shows the track
number and either the elapsed or the remaining track
playing ti m e. To change between elapsed and remaining
ti m e, ' p oinhrnd-click' at the ti m e shown i n the wi n dow.
8. Al l the disc pl a y control functions are shown on the
screen, and can be selected as desired by ' p oint-and-clik'
wi t h yuor remote control.
DISC PLAY
The operation of the functions i s briefly explained i n the
following table.
NOTE
If auto SHUFFLE or auto FTS has been selected on the ' C D
Audi o ' screen, thi s function wi l l be activated automatically.
• After creating a Favorite Track Selection for a di s c, you
can compose a title of up to 30 characters (depending on
the character width) for the selection usi n g the keyboard
screen.
The title then appears on the CD-Audio screen whenever
the disc i s l o aded.
• At the CD-Audio screen, ' p oint-and-click' on the program
button, then ' p oint-and-click' on the "Save FTS" button.
The CD-Audio screen wi l l change to the keyboard screen
• Select each character of the ti t l e i n turn, usi n g shift to
change between upper and lower case characters and
space to separate words.
Delete erases the last selected character.
Clear erases the complete (or partially complete) title.
Cancel returns to the CD-Audio screen without saving the
title.
OK saves the title and returns to the CD-Audio screen.
When an audi o CO wi t h graphics i s pl a yed, the CD
Graphics screen wi l l appear automatically.
• To l e t the picture channel bar appear/disappear click on
the acti o n button anywhere outside the channel bar.
• You can select another track number by clicking on ' T rack'
or either arrow next to
it.
Depending on the di s c, other channel numbers mi g ht give
you other information, such as the lyrics i n a different
language.
• Refer to the instructions that come wi t h the disc for their
functions.
• To pl a y audi o onl y , click 011 the ' a udio' i c on.

• point to tracks as required on the play
track bar, and i n each case click on any
action button to record the track i n the
FTS track bar.
• To cancel an unwanted track, point to i t
i n the FTS !rack bar and click on any ac-
ti o n button.
• To cancel the entire FTS program. poi n t
to the first track i n the FTS track bar and
cl i c k on any action button repeatedly unti l
al l the tracks disappear.
Store FTS
