Failure to read and follow these instructions could also result in damage and/or reduced equipment life. Safety warnings and guidelines do not by themselves eliminate danger.
  • Page 5 EARLY ENTRY CONCRETE SAW SAFETY PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT ALWAYS wear approved respiratory, head, ear and eye protection when operating this machine. ACCIDENTAL STARTS! Before starting the engine/motor, be sure the ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position to pre- vent accidental starting. Place the ON/OFF switch in the OFF position before performing any service operation.

Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair cover- ing to contain long hair. SECURE WORK Clamps or a vise should be used to hold work whenever practical.

A guard or any other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine if it would operate properly and perform its intended function. Always check moving parts for proper alignment or binding. Check for broken parts and mountings and all other conditions that may affect the operation of the power tool.

    EARLY ENTRY CONCRETE SAW SAFETY SILICA DUST WARNING Grinding/cutting/drilling of masonry, concrete, metal and other materials with silica in their composition may give off dust or mists containing crystalline silica. Silica is a basic component of sand, quartz, brick clay, granite and numerous other minerals and rocks. Repeated and/or substantial inhalation of airborne crystalline silica can cause serious or fatal respiratory diseases, including silicosis.

    ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS AND GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS In order to prevent electrical shock and injury, the following electrical safety precautions and symbols should be followed at all times! WARNING In case of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electrical current to reduce the risk of electric shock.
  • Page 11 ELECTRIC MOTOR SAFETY For maintenance care and operation of the electric motor, refer to your electric motor instruction book- let furnished with the electric motor. Protect the electric motor from dust as much as possible and keep ventilating openings clean. Before plugging in the machine, make sure that the outlet voltage is within the voltage marked on the machines's data plate.

    SAFETY OPERATION & SAFETY DECALS The SRX-2000 Early Entry Concrete Saw is equipped with a number of safety decals. These de- cals are provided for operator safety and maintenance information.     SRX-2000 will provide years of dependable service. General Description The SRX-2000 is engineered as a portable concrete saw powered by a Honda gas engine. The saw is capable of 1-5/8" depth of cut with an 10" blade.

    EARLY ENTRY CONCRETE SAW ASSEMBLY Filling Oil Reservoir NOTE: The engine is shipped with no oil in the crankcase. Refer to the engine manual for details on the type and amount of oil required. To fill the crankcase with oil, place the engine level. In order for this to be accomplished the blade must not be installed, and the depth adjustment must be down (until the engine is level).

When installing the blade retaining-bolt, ensure the threads of the bolt are aligned with the threads of the drive shaft so as not to "cross-thread" the bolt. 2. When installing the blade ensure that the blade shaft and flanges are free from dirt and all foreign material before mounting blade on the blade shaft.

    EARLY ENTRY CONCRETE SAW START UP Pre-Start Inspection The pre-start inspection should be performed before beginning any job. If Diamond Blade is worn, replace the blade before starting work. Inspect Blade for damage or Inspect Engine for leaks. Inspect the saw for general cracks.
  • Page 20 2 minutes between cranking periods to prevent starter from overheating. Dust Collection Systems The SRX-2000 has a 2" port for connection with a dust collection system. The vacuum system required must have a CFM of 129 and a HEPA filter guaranteed 99.99% efficient at .3 micron.

    OPERATION Adjusting Depth of Cut The common depth of cut for control joint cutting is 1". The SRX-2000 is factory set to a depth of 1". Raise the Raise/Release Lever. Adjust the Truck Stop screw to increase or decrease the depth of cut.
  • Page 22 Contraction joints are cut in concrete in order to relieve stresses in the concrete. The SRX-2000 controls random cracking through the early timing of a saw cut at predetermined loca- tions to create weakened planes in the concrete that subsequently crack at the bottom of the cut to relieve stress.

    EARLY ENTRY CONCRETE SAW CLEANUP Emergency Engine Shutdown Place Engine Master Switch in the OFF position. Cleanup Engine parts are extremely hot following use, allow engine to cool 1/2-hour before CAUTION cleaning. Use care during cleanup to avoid injury. 1. To extend operating life, the Early Entry Concrete Saw should be cleaned NOTE: following every use.

    EARLY ENTRY CONCRETE SAW MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE SAFETY • Always turn the master engine switch to the off position. • NEVER lubricate components or attempt service on a running machine. • Keep the machinery in proper running condition. • Fix damage to the machine immediately and always replace broken parts, or missing decals. New Maintenance Perform the following after initial purchase and operation of the saw.
