6. Installation

Please read the safety instructions on page
4 and 5 first, before you connect the power
cord.
6.1 Power source
The mains transformer has been designed for use on either 115 V or 230 V AC, 50 - 60 Hz,
selected by a push switch on the rear panel. The amplifier is factory set at 230 V AC mains voltage.
To change voltage please first unplug the power cord, then remove the black screw, which covers
the internal mains voltage selector switch on the rear side. With a thin tool push the switch. If it
comes up towards the rear panel it is in the 115 V position, otherwise in the 230 V position. Finally
fit the covering screw and verify the correct value for the mains fuse: 4 A slow blow at 230 V and 8
A slow blow for 115 V.
A 24 V DC backup power source can be connected to the 24 V DC IN screw terminals on the rear
side. Please ensure correct polarity when connecting batteries. It is recommended to ground the
amplifier via the screw terminal (
6.2 Speaker outputs
There are 5 identical output screw terminals for speaker connection. Each terminal has 3 outputs:
8 Ohms, 70 V and 100 V. Use only one of these outputs for connection.
6.3 AUX1 - 4 / MIC2 inputs
The MX-AMP 5x50E provides 4 auxiliary inputs, which may be used for line level sources such as
tuner, CD or cassette player. A slide switch located near the AUX1 / MIC 2 input selects for MIC or
line sensivity (unbalanced, 1/4 inch jack). The AUX 2 - 4 dual cinch inputs convert stereo signals to
mono. Use only shielded cable for the AUX and MIC connections.
6.4 High Level inputs
The High Level terminals are for connecting the 100 V outputs of other amplifiers, which are
normally linked to speakers. The input impedance is about 10 kiloohms (= 1 Watt @ 100 V). The
red terminals are tied to earth via a 10 ohms resistor and a 10 µF capacitor in series. If an
unbalanced source is used, connect the ground related wire to the red terminal.
) for electrical stability, if operated from a battery only.
