Automatic Timers and Remote Control for INSTEON

Introduction

A simple, plug-in timer for INSTEON compatible products. No software to download or PC
required. Includes randomized timers to give your home that "lived-in" look. A self-
contained battery keeps the accurate time so you don't have to reset the time after power
failure or if you move the unit to another outlet. Also functions as an INSTEON
ApplianceLinc, so you can remotely control it from anywhere in your home, or the world.
Note: a) It is recommended at least 2, properly installed Access Points (#2443) are
Installed in every INSTEON installation
b) TimerLinc cannot create different timer events for separate devices (all devices
linked to TimerLinc will respond as a group)
c) If LCD goes to sleep while you are programming, simply tap the OK button to
wake the unit back up
1)
Remove plastic film from LCD Screen
2)
Remove Battery Isolation tab (plastic pull-tab) from the TimerLinc to engage the back-up battery
The LCD screen will turn on (after a brief "all segments-on" period) and 12:00 will be blinking
3)
While under battery power, Set Clock (this step must be completed with unit unplugged):
a.
Press the Mode "+" button
The Set Date will be shown in the format: MMDDYY – the first 2 months digits will be blinking
b.
Press the Set "-" or Set "+" button until the desired month # is achieved
c.
Press OK
The 2 month digits will be saved and the 2 day digits will begin blinking
d.
Press the Set "-" or Set "+" button until the desired day # is achieved
e.
Press OK
The 2 day digits will be saved and the 2 year digits will begin blinking
f.
Press the Set "-" or Set "+" button until the desired year # is achieved
g.
Press OK
The 2 year digits will be saved and the 2 month digits will begin blinking again
h.
Press Mode "+"
Time will be displayed and will begin blinking (note: if clock has been previously set the time will not blink)
i.
Press and hold the Set "-" or Set "+" until you are close to the accurate time (note: be ready to release when you are close to the accurate time)
For the first several seconds the minutes will increment,
Then, minutes will increase in increments of 10 minutes
Then, hours will increment
j.
Tap Set "-" or Set "+" until you achieve the accurate time
k.
Press Mode "+"
DST (Daylight Savings Time) will be displayed (and auto will be blinking, meaning that daylight savings time will be automatically adjusted)

Press Set "-" or Set "+" to change to Manual if your area does not observe DST
m.
Press Mode "+"
The LCD screen will look like Figure A

Press Mode "+" again to get to "Ready Mode" (where time and day are displayed)
Example: Set up two timers: 1) to turn ON at 6:15pm on weekdays and 2) to turn OFF at 11:30pm on weekdays

From the normal "ready mode", with the time and day displayed, Press Mode "+" until Figure A is displayed (4 - 6
times)
You will see Figure A: The "1 ACTIVE TIME" will be displayed (1 indicating the first time event, ACTIVE TIME
indicating TimerLinc will turn itself ON and send an ON to the INSTEON devices it controls)

Press Day 2 times
"MON TUE WED THU FRI" will be displayed indicating that this event will only run on weekdays (subsequent
presses will cycle you through other day of week options)
3)
Press & Hold the Set "+" or "-" button until you get close to the desired time (holding the button down has the timer
go fast). Then press the Set "+" or "-" button repeatedly until the exact time "6:15" and "PM" are displayed. Note,
the AM/PM indicator changes automatically after you pass noon, so take care to note it displays the desired time.
You will see Figure B
4)
Press OK (to proceed to the next timer event)
"2 OFF TIME" will be displayed
5)
Press Day 2 times
"MON TUE WED THU FRI" will be displayed
6)
Press & Hold the Set "+" button as you did in step 3 until the exact time "11:30" and "PM" is displayed.
You will see Figure C
7)
Press Mode "+" to exit to ready mode (or, you can press OK to add more timers)
You will return to "ready mode" (with the current time and day displayed)

For example, if you’ve manually turned on TimerLinc (and its linked INSTEON devices, using its ON/OFF button), the next timer will not activate if it is an On timer. The same holds true if you’ve manually turned it off and the next timer is an Off timer.
