СКРТ 25. Operation Manual
The general diagram explaining how the Vehicle Tracking System operates is provided in
Figure 3.
GSM coverage
Figure 3
The Tracking Device mounted on the Vehicle identifies its geographical position, speed and
travel direction based on signals received from navigation satellites. The Tracking Device al-
so receives signals from on-board equipment sensors connected to it and records values of
all parameters into its internal memory.
Then Reports (see 2.9) are generated either at preset intervals, or in case of a certain Event
which are transmitted to the Access Point (further on AP) by means of GPRS or SMS mes-
sages. The Access Point, in its turn, transmits the received data to one or several Service
Servers, e.g. to the ORF Monitor Vehicle Tracking Service.
Users, if they have a Web-browser and Internet access, may view the Reports at the Ser-
vice Server. Analysis Reports are an alternative to trip sheets. They contain detailed in-
formation which is needed for efficient monitoring vehicles and drivers: working schedule,
time and place of stops, fuel consumption, filling the Vehicle and draining fuel from the
tank, the route, speed i.e. dozens of parameters.
