Check Full-Load Frequency
1. Turn off Utility power to the transfer
switch. The generator should start and
the transfer switch should transfer. Slowly
add electrical loads to the generator unit
until it is running at full capacity.
2. Measure the frequency at the load side of
the circuit breaker.
If the frequency is correct, restore utility power
then proceed to TEST 2 - Measure Frequency
L1 & L2.
• If the frequency is not correct:
1. Verify fuels pressure and volume are
within specifications.
2. Verify the air filter is not clogged.
• If the engine speed is still too low, contact
Power Solutions, Inc. (PSI Technical Service

Serice@PowerGreatLakes.com) for governor
troubleshooting information.
NOTE: If a full-load adjustment was required,
recheck the frequency at no-load.
TEST 2 - Measure Frequency at L1 & L2
1. Gain access to the system control panel.

2. Inspect position of jumper on JP1 (Figure
55,A). Jumper position must be located as
shown for 60Hz application.

3. With the unit running, measure the
frequency at L1 and L2 at the system
control panel pins (Fig 56).

• If the frequency is not correct, replace/
repair the wiring between the circuit
breaker and L1 & L2 at the system
control panel. Then re-test the
frequency at L1 & L2.
• If the frequency is correct but the
generator continues to shut down for
low frequency, replace the system
control panel board.
4. Reset the exercise timer.
