Refilling with water while ironing
When there is too little water in the steam
generator the indicator for insufficient water (14)
lights up, warning signal also sounds.
The safety cap (12) can only be opened when the
steam generator is not under pressure.
!
The safety cap can become hot after a long
period of working with the steam generator. When
the steam generator is hot there is a risk of being
scalded as water can splash back when the
reservoir is being filled. Let the steam generator
cool down before refilling it with water.
• Switch off the steam generator by the
switch (15), let the steam out of the steam iron
until the steam generator is no longer under
pressure.
• Unscrew the safety cap (12) on the steam
generator.
• Pour water in (max. capacity 1.2 litres).
• Screw the safety cap (12) on tight and switch
on steam generator by the switch (15).
After ironing
• Switch off the master switch of the ironing
board (6), pull out the power plug of the ironing
board (11).
• Switch off the steam generator by the switch
(15), pull out the power plug of the steam
generator (10).
• Pull out the power plug of the steam iron (9)
and let the steam iron cool down. Take steam
line (5) out of the flexible cable holder (4).
• When the iron has cooled down release the
steam line. To do this, press the slide down on
the connection for the steam iron (16).
• Dry the ironing-board cover.
In model 1102 BSX: leave the active steam
suction-removal facility switched on (6) after
ironing for approx. 15 minutes.
In model 1102 BS: remove the ironing-board
cover and let it dry out.
• Wind the mains cable onto the plug connector
strip of the ironing board (8).
• Pull the flexible cable holder (4) upwards and lie
it flat on the ironing board.
• Disengage the ironing board by the lever for
height adjustment (17) and fold it up.
4. Maintenance
!
Carry out maintenance tasks only when
the mains power plug has been pulled out and the
steam generator has cooled down.
If demineralized or distilled water is used
continuously, there is no need to rinse out and
descale the steam generator.
Rinsing out the steam generator
Rinse out the steam generator at most after every
5th fill-up if the hardness of water proves to be
more than 1.8 mmol/l (corresponds to 10° dH). You
can enquire about the hardness of water in your
area from your water supply company or
municipal public works.
• Pour 0.5 l water into the steam generator.
• Close the steam generator and shake it to
loosen the remnants of limescale.
• Empty out the water.
Descaling the steam generator
!
Use only those products which are approved
by Kärcher so that there can be no possibility of
damaging the unit.
For descaling purposes, we recommend the
Kärcher bio-descaler which is based on citric acid
and is entirely biodegradable.
As limescale is deposited in the steam generator,
we recommend descaling the tank at the following
intervals.
Remove lime-scale deposits after the given
number of tank fillings (TF).
