You get the next measure:
Partition to 12 or 24
The distance of the holes from the edge
The figure measured from the lower edge and up with measuring tape
Partition to 12 parts: start from mark 4
Partition to 24 parts: start from mark 7.
The holes are marked the same as figure, as 1, 2 and 3.
The partition starts from left or right edge and follows the middle line,
measures get bigger, at the end the last is overlapping.
You use only measuring tape during the whole estimation!!
