n Read the operator's manual carefully. Be thoroughly
familiar with the controls and the proper use of the
equipment. Know how to stop the unit and disengage the
controls quickly.
n Never allow children to operate the equipment. Never
allow adults to operate the equipment without proper
instruction.
n Wear eye and hearing protection when operating this
unit.
n Wear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves. Do not wear
loose fitting clothing, short pants, jewelry of any kind, or
go barefoot.
n Secure long hair so it is above shoulder level to prevent
entanglement in any moving parts.
n Keep all bystanders, children, and pets at least 15m.
away.
n Keep the area of operation clear of all persons, particularly
small children, and pets.
n Never operate the cultivator without good visibility.
n Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be
used and remove all foreign objects.
n Do not operate the machine without wearing adequate
outer garments. Avoid loose garments or jewelry that could
get caught in moving parts of the machine or its engine.
n If the unit strikes a foreign object, stop the engine,
disconnect the spark plug, thoroughly inspect the machine
for any damage, and repair the damage before restarting
and operating the machine.
n Never leave the operating position when the engine is
running.
n Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug before
unclogging the tines and when making any repairs,
adjustments, or inspections.
n Do not overload the machine capacity by cultivating too
deep in a single pass or at too fast a rate.
n Be aware that the equipment may unexpectedly bounce
upward or jump forward if the tines should strike buried
obstacles such as large stones, roots, or stumps.
n Never operate the equipment on a slope.
n Use extreme caution when pulling the machine towards
you.
n Start the engine carefully according to instructions from
a normal operating position and with feet well away from
the tines.
general SaFeTY ruleS

SPecIFIc SaFeTY ruleS

n Do not operate the equipment while barefoot or when
wearing sandals or similar lightweight footwear. Wear
protective footwear that will protect your feet and improve
your footing on slippery surfaces.
n Do not operate the cultivator while under the influence of
alcohol or drugs.
n Do not put hands or feet near or under tines.
n Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling.
n Never start or run the engine inside a closed area.
Breathing exhaust fumes will kill you.
n Never pick up or carry a machine while the engine is
running.
n Keep machine in good working condition.
n Check all nuts, bolts, and screws at frequent intervals
for proper tightness to be sure the equipment is in safe
working condition.
n Never store the machine with fuel in the fuel tank.
n Keep the unit free of grass, leaves, or grease to reduce
the chance of a fire hazard.
ServIce
n Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, shut off the
engine and make certain all moving parts have stopped.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, and keep the wire away
from the plug to prevent starting.
n Service on the cultivator must be performed by qualified
repair personnel only. Service or maintenance performed
by unqualified personnel could result in injury to the user
or damage to the product.
n Use only identical replacement parts when servicing the
cultivator. Use of unauthorised parts may create a risk of
serious injury to the user, or damage to the product.
reFuelIng
n Fuel is highly flammable. Take precautions when using
to reduce the chance of serious personal injury.
n Store fuel in a cool, well-ventilated area, safely away from
spark and/or flame-producing equipment.
n Store fuel in containers specifically designed for this
purpose.
n Only refuel outdoors and do not smoke while refueling.
n Add fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the cap
of the fuel tank or add fuel while the engine is running or
when the engine is hot.
n If fuel is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine but
move the machine away from the area of spillage and
avoid creating any source of ignition until fuel vapors have
dissipated.
n Replace all fuel tank and container caps securely.
n When draining the fuel tank, use an approved fuel storage
container while in a well-ventilated area.
