GENERAL 7 .1 .3 Connections When tightening a fitting, HOLD THE OPPOSITE FITTING STEADY WITH A SECOND TOOL to avoid damage Collectors in the same line must be connected so that the heat transfer fluid flows through them in series. The pipe to the heat exchanger in the storage cylinder must be connected to the outlet with the temperature sensor socket on the last collector in the line (see figure).
GENERAL 7 .2 Manual bleed valve (available as 7 .3 IDRA FI LE solar storage cylinder an accessory) solar storage cylinders are double coil IDRA FI LE units designed for installation in domestic hot water The manual bleed valve is designed to bleed air quickly production systems heated by solar collectors.

GENERAL 7 .5 Thermostatic mixer valve Fit the storage cylinder temperature sensor in the socket provided, taking care to expand the securing A thermostatic mixer valve must be installed at the outlet spring (L) first. from the storage cylinder to keep the temperature of the domestic hot water under 60°C (see pos.
INSTALLER UNPACKING THE PRODUCT systems are delivered on a single pallet. FKB-SOL The actual contents of the pallet differs according to the number of collectors in the system, the type of roof fixing system (parallel to roof or 45°), the capacity of the solar storage cylinder and expansion vessel, the head of the water pump and the volume of anti-freeze.
INSTALLER 10 INSTALLATION OF SYSTEM - Mount the expansion vessel on its bracket (2a) or on the wall (2b) COMPONENTS - Connect the expansion vessel to the safety valve group using the flexible hose and fitting provided (3) - Connect up the collectors and DHW system 10 .1 Fitting the valve group Proceed as follows to install the storage cylinder: - Fix the expansion vessel mounting bracket to the...
INSTALLER 10 .2 Installation Angle of collectors / General Solar collectors are designed to be installed at angles of Solar collectors must be installed with the correct between 15° (minimum) and 75° (maximum). Make sure that the mounting kit (which includes all necessary rails and bleed and vent valves of the collectors remain open while the brackets) as listed in the Catalogue.
INSTALLER 10 .3 Electrical connections To make it easier to fit the valve group’s protective casing, temporarily unplug connector C from To make the necessary electrical connections, use a connector C1. With the protective casing in place, screwdriver to remove the cover (E) from the solar controller plug connector C back into connector C1.
INSTALLER 11 PREPARING FOR INITIAL STARTUP Outlet Return group group - Connect the safety valve drain to a pipe (T) to avoid burns from expelled fluid and to permit the heat transfer fluid to be recovered - Connect up an expansion vessel (E) designed for use in solar water heating systems - Connect the pump and the sensors to the solar controller (if provided) as instructed in the manual...

INSTALLER PREMIXING WATER + GLYCOL Glycol anti-freeze is supplied separately and must be premixed with water in a suitable container before being used to fill the system. For example, a mix of 40% glycol and 60% water provides anti-freeze protection down to a temperature of -21°C.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTRE 12 INITIAL STARTUP Position of the knob FILLING THE SYSTEM of the valve R - M Do not fill the system in bright, sunny conditions or if Flow stopped the collectors are hot. 90° 90° 1 Turn the knobs of the outlet and return valves (M) and (R) fully anti-clockwise.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTRE 13 CHECKS DURING AND AFTER INITIAL START-UP On completion of the installation, perform the checks listed in the table below. Checking the solar collector circuit CHECK THAT THE SOLAR COLLECTOR CIRCUIT HAS BEEN PROPERLY BLED THERE ARE NO CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE SOLAR HEATING CIRCUIT AND OTHER WATER SUPPLIES External water supplies such as automatic filling systems can alter the strength of the water-glycol mix and lead to serious frost damage.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTRE 14 TEMPORARY SHUTDOWN REPLACING THE PUMP Perform the following operations before starting work to replace the pump (C): If you are going away for a short period of time like a - Switch the electricity supply to the storage cylinder’s weekend or a short holiday, etc., and outdoor temperatures valve group and to any associated boiler OFF at the are going to remain above ZERO, proceed as follows.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTRE 17 CLEANING AND REMOVING Tighten the bolts (7), proceeding diagonally around the flange to apply pressure uniformly around the INTERNAL COMPONENTS seal. EXTERNAL CLEANING - Fill the storage cylinder’s DHW (secondary circuit) Clean the outside of the storage cylinder with a soft cloth and check that there are no leaks from any of the damped in soapy water.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CENTRE 19 TROUBLESHOOTING FAULT CAUSE SOLUTION Air in the circuit - Bleed the circuit The pump has not got enough - Check the specifications of the pump and head to push the water column change the pump if necessary up to the collectors - Adjust the flow rate through the solar collector The flow rate through the circuit...
