Front panel

The PS 3000 HV features a mains monitor which assesses the stability and
quality of the mains power supply. The mains monitor can be set to display
the operating voltage, the current drain or the level of interference in the
mains cable.
The display mode currently set is indicated by the light-emitting diode
(LED). The display can be changed via the A 3000 HV, the P 3000 HV
connected to the A 3000 HV or via a connected PA 3100 HV (see chapter
'The unit in use').
In display mode U the mains monitor displays the operating voltage, which
may vary according to load and mains voltage. An indicated value of 100%
corresponds to nominal mains voltage (115 V or 230 V, depending on ver-
sion). For optimum operation the display should be in the range 90% to
110%.
In display mode I the mains monitor displays the current drain of the
PS 3000 HV: 100% corresponds to the PS 3000 HV's maximum power.
The display should not be continuously above 100%, but brief peak
currents over 100% present no problem to the PS 3000 HV.
In display mode N the mains monitor displays the interference in the mains
supply: the higher the displayed value, the more interference there is in the
mains voltage. If you see a value above -35dB we recommend the use of a
high-quality mains filter such as the  Power Bar.
You may need to have your mains installation checked, and any sources of
interference eliminated.
