6 Care and Maintenance

6.1 Operating Precautions

Although the VIA Bravo MRI is a rugged instrument, care should be taken to avoid
exposing it to excessive external RF or a Magnetic Field. Do not connect the VIA Bravo MRI
to an active transmitter. The VIA Bravo MRI Should Not be allowed to get closer than 3 feet
(1 meter) with a 1.5T Coil , and 5 feet (1.5 meter) with a 3T Coil

6.2 External DC Power

If you wish to power the VIA Bravo MRI from an external DC source other than the AEA
Technology's AC adapter, ensure that it meets the requirements of

6.3 Batteries

Due to the strong magnetic fields involved with MRI servicing, the use of batteries is not
recommended. Both the VIA Bravo MRI unit and the MRI unit under test could be more
susceptible to damage if batteries were installed. We have had some success with the new
NiMH batteries within 8 feet of a 3T magnet, but have not tested the long term effects.

6.4 Cleaning

Under ordinary operating conditions, it should only be necessary to occasionally wipe the
VIA Bravo MRI with a soft, water moistened cloth. Avoid using solvents which may attack the
plastic.
