Drive Chain
5. Check rear axle nut alignment by
making sure the chain adjuster index
marks (4) align with the rear edge (5)
of the adjusting slots.
Both marks should correspond. If the
axle is misaligned, turn the right or left
adjusting nut until the marks correspond
on the rear edge of the adjusting slots
and recheck chain slack.
. Torque the rear axle nut to:
59 N-m (43 Ibf-ftl
If a torque wrench is not used for this
installation, see your Honda dealer as
soon as possible to verify proper
assembly. Improper assembly may lead
to a loss of braking capacity.
. Tighten the drive chain adjusting nuts
lightly. Then, while holding the drive
chain adjusting nuts with a wrench,
tighten the drive chain lock nuts.

8. Recheck drive chain slack (page 112 )
Lubrication
Refer to Safety Precautions on page 54 .
Lubricate every 800 km (500 miles) or
sooner if chain appears dry. Lubricant:
SAE 80 or 90 gear oil
